Seaside Memories

Today the Flourishes Senior Design Team is going to show off some summer time fun by the water with Seaside Life, A Guiding Light or Beach Life stamp sets.  Beach Life will be back in stock soon!

When our family went on our wonderful adventure to Cancun earlier this year one thing that the cousins loved doing every day was shelling.  They'd dive under the waves or just stand along the breaking waves and feel shells rolling in under their feet, then they'd race up to the beach chairs with their discoveries.  They found some awesome shells!  My sister in law knows lots about seashells and could tell the kids what each one they found was.  They loved spending a lot of their days discovering...so I thought it would be perfect to create something to celebrate our seaside memories together with this set Seaside Life.

For those inquiring minds I thought I'd let you know what all these different shells are :)  From left to right a Turban Shell, a Turret, a tiny Olive Shell (shadowed on the Kraft paper), Scallop Shell and a Mexican Sand Dollar.  I inked each of the shells in a neutral toned Memento ink Desert Sand, Toffee Crunch, Peanut Brittle and Espresso Truffle.  I colored them up lightly with copics, trimmed them out and arranged them on the strip of Emerald Coast Cardstock and Kraft Cardstock that I distressed with Tea Dye Ink to give the look of sand.

I tore the bottom of the Kraft paper and used a Picket Fence Distress Marker to give it the feeling of foam like waves coming in over the sand.  Just simple...and a little sentimental...good memories we shared :)

Join the rest of the Flourishes Team today to see what wonderful Seaside and Beach life creations they have to show off:

Blog Cherries

When I was looking at how fun the different fruits were in the Berry Sweet Frames set Flourishes...I couldn't help but notice that cute little pair of cherries.  Since I have a love for most things cherry and since there's a particular theme here on my blog design I thought I'd play around a little and see if I could replicate the feeling of my blog on a card :)  A bit of a reversal for design inspiration.

Look a bit like the blog design?  I love how it came together!  And it's really a simple design too.  I stamped the cherries numerous times on the outside panels of the Flourishes Classic White cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, coloring them all with Copics.    The center panel is designer paper (Teresa Collins Memories) torn on the edges and sewn with a wide border like my blog design and then I added some beautiful Flourishes Cotton Dentelle lace in a double row as well as some Basque Red seam binding.

The sentiment is layered onto our Flourishes Perfectly Pierced Classic Frames die, with the sentiment stamped in Memento Lady Bug ink, accented with some Teresa Collins Far and Away Enamel Dots.

Guess you can get inspiration from the most unusual places!  It was sure fun to make.  Thanks for popping by today.

CardMaker Giveaway with The Cat's Pajamas

As a person who loves colouring, I am naturally drawn to images that are either realistic and botanical, or images that are cute and whimsical.  One of my favourite places for those fun styles with whimsy is The Cat's Pajamas; I had the pleasure of guesting with them last year, which was so fun.  Today I'm excited to show TCP off a little to you!

The Cat's Pajamas

AND....it's an extra-fun day today!  It's my turn at the CardMaker Magazine Blog to give something away!  The Cat's Pajamas has generously donated a $25 gift certificate to the winner.  All you have to do is comment here to win, please leave your email address so I can contact you if your name is chosen.

And here's a little TCP inspiration I made for you today that shows off just how cute these stamps are.

I have a very particular affection for this character....Mr. Bun Bun :)  Those ears just get me every time!    This set is called Away We Go.  How can you resist those big bunny ears in a hot air balloon?  I coloured him up with Copics to match this very fun MME paper  - Come Away With Me.  It's the perfect match with the travelling theme...and hot air balloons in the background.

The sentiment flag is also a part of one of the pages of DP, and I accented with some sewing and fun little buttons and twine.

So, leave a comment here, and I'll draw a name June 28th by 11 pm MTN Time, and you can claim your TCP Prize!

Light Up

Welcome to another Friday showing off Flourishes June Releases!  I LOVED playing with this month's sets :)  Today, I pulled out my favourite set (though that's really hard to say - because I really loved them all), S'more Fun.  I think the lantern is so sweet with the cluster of flowers around it, so I chose it today.

I stamped the lantern twice onto Flourishes Classic white cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, colouring up the images with Copics, and then adding just the center of the lantern popped up on the design (below you can see that a little better).  I die cut that out with a Labels Twenty die, and then placed that onto one of our Flourishes Perfectly Pierced Classic Hourglass Die.  The designer papers here are Echo Park This and That.

Isn't that little sentiment cute?  I just inked up part of the sentiment and placed it onto a Flourishes Classic Tags Die with Tiger Lily card stock, then doodled some little orange flowers just like the flowers around the lantern.  It reminds me of a song by Newsboys "When the Boys Light Up"...so I kept singing it when I was making it.  I added some matching seam binding and some black lace, button and twine.

And here's the inside of the card stamped in Tangelo Memento Ink.  And now I bet you're singing another song in your head right??? :)

Now please head on over and see the rest of the Design Team today and they're fun June Release creations and be sure to stop by the Flourishes Blog again today...we have another Designer Focus today on my friend Stacy Morgan!  It's your chance to CASE Stacy and win some Flourishes Goodies!

CardMaker and Scrapbook Adhesives Blog Hop!

What a fun day today!  The CardMaker Magazine Blog Team has paired up with Scrapbook Adhesives  by 3L to bring you a very fun hop today showing off all that's available with Scrapbook Adhesives.  All I have to say is WOW!  Not only were they really generous with us  - but they have some awesome products that I had not seen before!  So, I know you'll see some great and inspiring things today on the hop.

Adhesive is an essential in card making.  And the truth is - the RIGHT adhesive makes all the difference on a project being effective.  So today I wanted to show off a number of different applications that used different products in this sweet birthday set I created.

I love when gift packaging is coordinated!  So here's a sweet summer Birthday card and a very fun gift box I created from a Silhouette Cut File I found by Samantha Walker.

I began with the card creating some fun pennant style elements with Teresa Collins Memories Paper and Flourishes Kid's Play stamp set.  The image is embossed on the icy blue paper and then I added some Scrapbook Adhesives Black Photo Corners to the right edges of the design to accent the main panel and some 3D Foam Squares to pop the panel up a little.

Now for the very fun gift box that opens so uniquely.... I just love how cute it is!

Here I used a number of products including Crafty Power Tape to hold the panels of the box together.  It's a lot stronger than regular adhesive which is perfect for a box.   I also used it to adhere the ribbon on the belly band for the box too.  Then, to accent the box I added a pretty felt flower adhering it with medium Dodz which is perfect for holding it together.

Here's a picture of all the awesome adhesives I used for the Birthday set.  It's so nice to have the right products for a project like this!

Want some fun news?  Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® is sponsoring two Adhesive Prize packages worth $25 each. One winner will be randomly drawn from comments on the Crafty Power Blog, and the other will be randomly drawn from comments on the participating blog posts.  Be sure to comment on each blog for your chances to win. The contest is open from June 19, 8:00 am EST, until June 21, 8:00 am EST. Winners will be announced on the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L Crafty Power Blog!  Be sure to stop by and enter for some of these great products yourself!

Now head on over to the talented Kelly Klapstein to see what she's created!

Thanks for dropping by today!

Lakeside

Told you I'd be back with more from this month's June Releases at Flourishes :)  This is such a nice peaceful camping scene!

I made this card for my Dad's Father's Day card with the set In Nature.

Stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on Flourishes Classic White then coloured with Copics, cut with a Spellbinder's Labels Sixteen Die.  The papers are Teresa Collins Far and Away.

A nice masculine touch was to stamp the sentiment onto some twill ribbon and fray the edges, then accent with some Far and Away Enamel Dots.

See you soon!

Happiness Wildflowers

How about some more pretties with this month's Flourishes Release?  I had a lot of fun colouring up this lovely wildflower bouquet from the new Picking Wildflowers set in some vibrant pinks and greens for a wedding card.  The design is pretty simple outside of the fact that I did some cutting out-of-the-box style on the butterfly on the right and the poppy pod on the left, after stamping in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on Flourishes Classic White.  I curved the two right edges of the design and did some outlining with my Copic Multi-liner pen, and then popped up the top left butterfly.  The papers are Carta Bella True Friends.

Then I added the sentiment on one of the smaller dies from our Perfectly Pierced Victorian Ovals die set, accented with a little stamping in Memento Lilac Posies ink.  A few last accents with Teresa Collins  Enamel Dots, some pretty lime braided trim and Color Made Easy Seambinding in Pink Aster.

It's really such a beautiful bouquet isn't it?  So perfect to make a beautiful statement on a card and so pretty for a summer wedding!  Don't forget that the June Releases are available in a bundle at 10% off this week only!  They are four gorgeous sets!  And you'll be seeing more of them from me in the days ahead :)

Berry Sweet Frames

We're back today with our last day of fabulous New Releases for June!   Today's set celebrates the sweet bounty of a fruitful summer garden!   Introducing....

BerrySweetFramesGraphic

This set is surely berrilicious! Designed with three sweet-as-can-be accent stamps of raspberries, strawberries and cherries, this set can deliver a gift from your garden or cheer to a friend. The gingham background is designed as a perfect fit to our Perfectly Pierced Classic Frames Die. Layer using the die or come up with your own fun ways to combine all of these sentiments and images. With this fresh picked set, the creative options are endless!

As a lover of all things berry, I think this set is a beauty!  It combines such sweet illustrations by Marcy, and the fact that you have the gingham frame to go with the Classic Frames Die is SO pretty.  The layering possibilities are really cool!   I had such fun with this set.

I have a bit of a patriotic feel going on with this card today.  I stamped the gingham layer into the Perfectly Pierced Classic Frames Die with Nautical Blue Memento Ink making my background, then I layered the smaller label from the die set with some Love Letter Red Memento Ink for the framing, and then the sentiment inside, accented with the pretty red raspberries stamped on Flourishes Classic White with Memento Tuxedo Black, trimmed out carefully, coloured with Copics and popped up.

The papers are Teresa Collins Stationary Noted, and Color Made Easy True Blue Cardstock, and then I tied a pretty bow with Color Made Easy Poppy Seam Binding, a Color Made Easy Poppy Button and twine.

S'More Fun

You've come back for S'more Flourishes Fun? Well we're bringing it to you today! Hasn't it been great? And for some more outdoor fun today - we think this set might be one of our favorites!

Introducing the very darling....

Get on the road again with this summer inspired set designed to share S'more Fun! From a darling daisy clad lantern and a vintage RV ready for summer to finger licking good S'mores fresh off the fire, this set is sure to bring smiles! This 4 by 6" set features three main images, an accent image plus four all-occasion sentiments.

I have to say that I just about flipped when I saw this set...I mean seriously...a retro camper...and pennants? Plus all the other goodies in this set!  Isn't it completely adorable?  I started by stamping the camper and a string of pennants on Flourishes Classic White Cardstock and then trimming out with a little border.  I got this set early before the cut files were created, but you could easily do this with the cut files that will be available for the set.  I did a little colouring with Copics to match this fun paper from Echo Park that I still had.  It had the same cute pennants too and I couldn't resist.  The camper is on an oval base of Color Made Easy Emerald Coast card stock.

Then I accented with some cute little Nested Lacey Pennants for the sentiment, so it could read Happy Camper or Camper Happy - both would work right?  'Cause if I had a camper like this I think I'd be camper happy :)  Then it's a little twine, some Teresa Collins Enamel Dots and a base of Sunflower Color Made Easy Cardstock.  Capital A Adorable.

We'll have some very fun summer inspired ideas to show you with this set, so drop on over and visit the Design Team today to see them all, and don't forget that we have one more day of the…
